TOMS RIVER – A Brick Township man has been sentenced to five years in state prison after admitting to possessing child sexual abuse material, prosecutors said.
Dennis Hubert, 43, received the sentence October 3 from Superior Court Judge Dina M. Vicari, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer. The term will run concurrently with a separate prison sentence Hubert is already serving for a parole violation. He pleaded guilty in May.
The case began with a cyber-tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to the New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which reported that someone was trading child exploitation images online.
Investigators with the Ocean County Prosecutor’s High Tech Crime Squad traced the activity to Hubert’s Brick residence. Detectives from the prosecutor’s office, U.S. Homeland Security Investigations and Brick police executed a search warrant there on October 24, 2024. A forensic review of his electronic devices uncovered multiple images of child sexual abuse material, prosecutors said.
Hubert was arrested at his home and taken to the Ocean County Jail.
Billhimer credited Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Shanon Chant-Berry and the combined efforts of the High Tech Crime Squad, Homeland Security, Brick police, the state police ICAC Task Force, and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children for their work in the case.
