BRICK – Emergency personnel responded to a call about a fire earlier today in Brick.

Police said they could not release many more details than what was already shared via social media earlier today.

A 9-1-1 call came in reporting a fire at an occupied residence in District 2, reported as the 200 Block of Princeton Avenue by Ocean County Scanner News.

The homeowner was not home at the time of the fire.

Emergency crews responded to extinguish the flames, coming from the home’s kitchen.

Firefighters rescued two cats from the residence, who were taken to a local veterinary office as a precaution.

No injuries were reported.

The Brick Township Police Department and Brick Township Bureau of Fire Safety continue to investigate.

An earlier version said it was police who rescued the cats. Jersey Shore Online regrets the error.
