BERKELEY – A toddler wearing only a diaper was found alone walking across Route 9 Tuesday morning, police said.

After receiving calls about the child, officers located the toddler in the area of Morris Boulevard in the parking lot of Diesel’s Subs with good Samaritans. Shortly after the grandmother, who was actively looking for the child, arrived on scene.

According to police, the toddler had left the home while the door alarm was deactivated and had walked about two blocks before being found.

Patrolman Kyle Slocum completed the investigation report and contacted the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency, police said.
