BERKELEY — A monthlong investigation into reports of illegal vape and THC sales at a Bayville gas station led police to seize hundreds of prohibited items and charge a store employee, authorities said.

Detectives with the Berkeley Township Police Department executed a court-authorized search warrant on November 20 at the Sinclair Gas Station and Dino Mart on Route 9 following complaints from residents who said the store was selling flavored vapes and cannabis products. Police also received reports that customers under 21 — including minors — were able to buy the items.

According to police, the search turned up roughly 1,000 flavored vape cartridges and about 100 THC products, along with additional evidence.

Arshveer Singh, 29, of New York, was later charged with possessing THC products with the intent to distribute and offering flavored vapes for sale. He was processed and released pending a court appearance under state bail reform guidelines.

Police said store owners and employees were given educational material outlining New Jersey’s bans on flavored vape sales and unlicensed THC products. Officers plan to continue checking all tobacco retailers in town to ensure compliance.

Officials urged residents to report information about illegal product sales. Tips can be submitted anonymously through the department’s website or by calling 732-341-6600 ext. 611.

Authorities emphasized that the charges are accusations and Singh is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
