Police Investigating Crash Involving School Bus, Garbage Truck

SEASIDE HEIGHTS – A 13-year-old student was taken to a local hospital for treatment after the school bus he was riding on was struck by a borough garbage truck.

Seaside Heights Det. Steve Korman said the Central Regional school bus was struck by the garbage truck at 7:55 a.m. Feb. 19 at Grant Avenue and the Boulevard. He described the accident as “minor.” The bus was struck on the rear passenger side bumper area while sitting at a red light at the intersection, heading northbound on the boulevard. 

The bus was carrying 14 students aboard when it was hit. One student was taken to Community Medical Center for complaints of a minor injury.

Patrolman Shane Henderson is investigating the accident.
