BERKELEY – A husband and wife are facing serious charges after a complaint led police to their township home. Inside, officers found 24 dogs living in deplorable conditions.
Berkeley Township Police said 49-year-old Luke Peters and his wife 42-year-old Alison Peters of Bayville allegedly had the dogs inside their Moorage Avenue home. A complaint call led to the warrant search in late October after some neighbors were concerned about the possibility of neglect.
The Peters’ were arrested and processed and were released pending a future court date.
Police said Berkeley Township Animal Control responded to the scene where the homeowners voluntarily surrendered their dogs due to the unsafe living conditions.
Police added the dogs were safely transported to Southern Ocean County Shelter where they received medical care.
Luke and Alison Peters were charged with 24 counts of Animal Neglect.
