SEASIDE PARK – The gas leak that shut down and evacuated a portion of the borough has been cleared up, officials said.

The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department said just before 5 p.m. that residents and visitors can resume travel to the area.

The reported gas leak forced an evacuation between North Lafayette and Decatur Avenue. Authorities had asked people to avoid the area.

Police and fire were on the site.

No details about the gas leak were available.
