OCEAN COUNTY – According to officials, the 77th annual fireworks over the Toms River has been canceled due to a delay in delivery from the fireworks company.

The announcement was made earlier today by the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department’s emergency notification system called Nixle.

The fireworks on the Toms River, which services all the towns along the river, is organized by Beachwood.

While the original fireworks had a rain date, there has not been a replacement date set, although other media outlets including WOBM, say it won’t be rescheduled.

Jersey Shore Online attempted to reach Fireworks Extravaganza, which is based in Rochelle Park.

They were the supplier that dropped the ball. However, a recorded message said they were closed for the holiday.
