BERKELEY – A two vehicle crash that sent a car upside down on a busy road is under investigation, according to police.
Berkeley Township Police were called to the scene on January 25 around 11:18 a.m. outside the TD Bank on Route 9 for a report of a two vehicle motor vehicle accident with injuries. At the time of the crash, it was raining which caused the ground to be wet and slippery.
Officers arrived to find a black Chevy Cruze overturned in the northbound lane of Route 9. The second vehicle, a blue Jeep Grand Cherokee, had pulled into the bank’s parking lot after sustaining damage.
Berkeley First Aid was called to the scene to treat those in the vehicles but both parties refused additional medical attention.
Police said 33-year-old Ryan Downie of Toms River, who was driving the Chevy Cruze, was issued summonses for Careless Driving and for Unsafe Tires.
The crash is under probe by Traffic Enforcement Officer Edward LaGreca. Assisting in this investigation is Patrolman Don Rowley, Patrolman Derek Mayer and Patrolman Christopher Elliott.
