BEACHWOOD – Beachwood’s representative on the Toms River Board of Education is taking a leave of absence.

Dan Leonard said that he will step down temporarily due to undisclosed medical reasons. He intends on attending the December board meeting, but will not be present for the January and February ones.

Initially, he had resigned because he wasn’t sure how long the medical issues were going to last.

“It’s not that I wanted to resign, I thought I had to,” he said.

However, he said after rumors spread about his leave, he amended that plan from a resignation to a leave of absence.

Leonard was voted onto the board in 2016.
