BRICK – A state of emergency has been declared in Brick Township.

Police Chief James Riccio said storms this morning have caused extensive flooding throughout the township. More than 100 evacuations have been carried out as a result in Greenbriar I.

The chief is coordinating with the Office of Emergency Management and Red Cross to assist people who have been displaced.

The police are asking citizens to stay off the roads and remain home, as more severe storms are expected this afternoon and evening.
