JACKSON – A Jeep went airborne and struck a concrete bridge barrier after leaving Interstate 195 early Friday, leaving its driver seriously injured, authorities said.
The crash occurred shortly after 6 a.m. near milepost 17.6 on the highway’s eastbound side, according to the New Jersey State Police.
Police identified the driver as Adam M. Riepl, 38, of Point Pleasant. Investigators said the SUV traveled off the left side of the road and hit a guardrail before becoming airborne. It then collided with the bridge barrier and came to a stop.
The cause of the crash remains under probe.
