
LAKEWOOD — Police are investigating a bias incident after multiple swastikas were discovered inside a Lakewood synagogue early Wednesday morning.
According to the Lakewood Police Department, officers responded to a synagogue on Spruce Street at approximately 5:38 a.m. on July 29 after receiving a report of suspicious markings inside the building.
Police said an individual arriving at the synagogue discovered several swastikas that had been placed throughout the interior of the building.
Officers documented the markings, which were later removed.
The Lakewood Police Department said the investigation remains active and emphasized that bias-related crimes and incidents are treated with the utmost seriousness. Detectives are working to identify those responsible.
