TRENTON — A Toms River man who is not a U.S. citizen has admitted casting a ballot in a federal election, authorities said.

Eliezer Kadoch, 39, pleaded guilty in Trenton federal court to one count of voting by an alien in a federal election, U.S. Attorney Robert Frazer said.

Federal prosecutors said Kadoch is a citizen of France and has never been a citizen of the United States. Court records show he voted in the November 2022 midterm election, which included a race for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The charge carries a maximum sentence of six months in prison and a $100,000 fine. Kadoch is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 26 before U.S. Magistrate Judge J. Brandon Day.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors said the case was brought through the office’s Election Integrity Task Force, which includes federal law enforcement agencies focused on election-related crimes in New Jersey.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph McFarlane of the Special Prosecutions Division is representing the government.
