BERKELEY — Two swimmers were rescued from the ocean off 23rd Avenue in South Seaside Park on Thursday evening, police said.
Berkeley Township police responded around 6:40 p.m. for a report of two people in distress in the water. One swimmer made it back to shore without assistance, while Seaside Fire Rescue brought the other to safety, according to police.
Tri-Boro First Aid also responded, and both adults refused medical treatment.
Police reminded beachgoers to swim only in areas where lifeguards are on duty, noting that rip currents can be unpredictable and dangerous, even for strong swimmers.
