Wind Brings Down Power Lines, Causes Outages

ORTLEY BEACH – Shore areas are reporting high winds, and those winds are knocking down power lines and causing outages.

  Jersey Central Power & Light crews were out on Route 35 in Ortley Beach repairing lines that were damaged by the gusting wind.

  A representative from JCP&L said that as of about 2:30 p.m., there were approximately 1,000 customers without power in Toms River. The timeline on getting them up and running is unknown at this time.

  A gale warning was posted by Weather.com. This means that along Atlantic coastal areas, there could be winds of 25-40 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. There were also 5-8 feet seas expected.
