TOMS RIVER – Rose Garden Nursing and Rehabilitation Center celebrated resident Vera McChesney on August 13 when she turned 105 years old!

McChesney, New Jersey native, was formerly a teacher at Toms River Elementary School in 1934. She moved to a few other states over the years with her husband, who was in the Navy. However, eventually she came back to her roots and settled in Toms River to retire.

McChesney’s active lifestyle and healthy diet have helped her accomplish such an amazing achievement. She also prides herself on having never taken a taxi in 105 years!
