TOMS RIVER — The Toms River Township Police Department will undergo an on-site assessment later this month as part of its effort to earn professional accreditation through a statewide program.
The review is conducted under the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police accreditation process, which evaluates whether law enforcement agencies meet established best-practice standards. Those standards cover five core areas: administration, personnel, operations, investigations, and the handling of arrestees and detainees.
As part of the assessment, members of the public and department employees are invited to provide comments to the independent assessment team.
Telephone comments will be accepted Thursday, January 15 between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. by calling 908-864-5543. Calls are limited to five minutes and must focus on the department’s ability to comply with accreditation standards.
Written comments may also be submitted by email to druiz@trpolice.org.
Additional written input regarding the department’s compliance with accreditation requirements may be sent to Accreditation Program Director Harry J. Delgado, Ed.S., at hdelgado@njsacop.org, or mailed to the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission, 751 Route 73 North, Suite 12, Marlton, NJ 08053.
For more information about the assessment process, residents may contact Lt. Daniel Ruiz at 732-349-0150, extension 1339.
