TOMS RIVER – The East Dover Fire Company is mourning one of its own this week.

The Company announced the death of past Chief Donald Strunck. He was the last living charter member of the East Dover Fire Company, which was formed more than 65 years ago.

For more than 15 years, Strunck was a member of the Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention. He was known to visit schools to teach students, and a fixture at Ocean County Mall to teach residents about fire safety.

In addition to serving his community through the fire company, he served his country in the U.S. Navy.
