TOMS RIVER – Law enforcement is continuing its investigation into a fatal motor vehicle accident that happened Saturday afternoon.
Raymond Gillick, 95, of Lakewood, crossed his 2011 Hyundai Sonata into oncoming traffic on Route 9, crashing into a 2012 Sonata at North Maple Avenue. That driver, Taneka Pearson, 38, and her passenger, only identified as a 37-year-old male from Toms River, sustained minor injuries. They were treated at Monmouth Medical Center South.
Police said Pearson was unable to avoid the head-on collision.
Gillick died shortly after arriving to the hospital. No information on his exact cause of death has been released.
Toms River Traffic Safety Officer Terence Warren, the Ocean County Prosecutors Office and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI Unit are investigating.
