TOMS RIVER – Toms River Police are warning motorists of overnight utility work that will cause “extreme delays” Wednesday into Thursday.

Hooper Avenue southbound will be closed entirely at Yorktowne Boulevard from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Dec. 12-13.

Police said the road will be closed due to “utility installation for the new commercial facility located just south of the intersection.”

Traffic will be diverted via Yorktowne Boulevard to Church Road.

Hooper Avenue northbound lanes will remain open.

Police are asking motorists to avoid the area if possible.
