TOMS RIVER – The Toms River Police Public Safety Cadet Unit #137 are looking for applicants ages 14 to 20 years old.
The new National Public Safety Cadet program is a youth mentoring organization that is geared to providing knowledge, skills and practical experiences to those interested in a career in public service.
The program consists of bi-weekly law enforcement training, and volunteering at various township events. Cadets are also eligible to participate in “ride-a-longs” with sworn law enforcement officers.
Some parts of the training will include:
- CPR/First Aid
- Firearms safety
- Arrest, Search and Seizure
- Domestic Violence Response
- Burglary in Progress
- Motor Vehicle Stops
- Physical Fitness
