TOMS RIVER – No injuries were reported in a hit and run that occurred on Hooper Avenue, according to police.

Chief Mitch Little told Jersey Shore Online that 56-year old Christine Mooney of Pine Beach was driving north on Hooper Avenue on Monday night when another vehicle coming from the opposite direction made a left turn in front of her vehicle onto Hadley Avenue.

Mooney told police that she did not have enough time to stop and crashed into the passenger side of the other vehicle, which was described as a black sedan.

A witness reported seeing the black sedan, possibly a Mercedes, fleeing the scene east on Lafayette Avenue. Neither Mooney nor the witness caught the license plate of the other driver’s vehicle.

Mooney was not injured in the accident but her vehicle sustained moderate damage to the front bumper and front hood, said police.

While police searched the surrounding area for the hit and run suspect, they have not located anyone yet. No surveillance cameras or additional witnesses were present during the incident.
