TOMS RIVER – A pedestrian was killed Saturday night after being struck by a vehicle on Fischer Boulevard, authorities said.
According to the New Jersey State Police crash database, the collision happened around 8 p.m. near Overlook Drive on the southbound side of the roadway, which is designated as County Route 549.
The Ocean County Sheriff’s Office reported the roadway was shut down following the crash and issued an alert about the closure shortly after 8:25 p.m. Officials did not say how long traffic was detoured in the area.
No additional details about the victim or the circumstances of the crash were immediately released. The incident remains under investigation.
