TOMS RIVER – A water main break occurred at 340 West Water Street in downtown Toms River, near the Municipal Utilities Authority building, according to Jane Kunka, spokesperson at Suez water.

The break is expected to affect downtown businesses, the release stated. The Garden State Parkway exit that leads to Water Street is closed to traffic for the time being. The repair could take up to four hours to repair.

Employees from Suez, as well as its contractor, J.F. Kiely reported to the site.

After the repair, customers might notice cloudy or slightly discolored water, Suez stated. Running cold water for about 10 minutes should allow it to run clear.
