TOMS RIVER – Welcome to local summer.
Ortley Beach will be open to the public after Labor Day for the first time, borough officials said. Seasonal badges will continue to be honored and daily badges will be sold.
However, lifeguards will only be on duty on the weekends, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. until September 27, weather permitting.
The restrooms will be open daily.
“With some schools starting remote learning…and many parents continuing to work from home, the Township Council and I decided that it would make sense to keep our beaches open through September 27th. We hope our residents and visitors will take advantage of our beaches and enjoy some beautiful September weather,” Mayor Maurice B. Hill said.
