TOMS RIVER – Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 166 Thursday and Friday.

NJDOT officials said beginning 10 p.m. Nov. 29, lanes will be closed on Route 166 between Route 37 and Old Freehold Road. New Prince Concrete, NJDOT’s contractor for the project, will be moving barriers, restriping the road and reopening James Street.

That road work should be finished around 6 a.m. Nov. 30.

Currently, there is work being done in the northbound lanes. This shift will move work to the center work zone “zone with a single outer lane in each direction allowing drainage system improvements to be expedited, and the construction of a center median.”

NJDOT officials said access to residential properties will be maintained at all times. Access to commercial properties will be maintained during normal business hours.

This $11.7 million began in March 2016 and is expected to be finished this winter.
