TOMS RIVER — Federal employees affected by the government shutdown can receive free meals at JBJ Soul Kitchen, the nonprofit community restaurant founded by the JBJ Soul Foundation.
The restaurant is inviting furloughed workers and their families to enjoy a complimentary three-course meal during regular hours at its locations in Red Bank and Toms River, as well as at its café inside the Ocean County Library in downtown Toms River. A valid federal ID is required.
“Our mission has always been to support the community,” restaurant representatives said. “We want to provide not only nourishment but also a place where individuals can connect with resources and support during this difficult time.”
In Red Bank, meals are offered for lunch on Fridays, dinner Wednesday through Saturday evenings, and Sunday brunch. The Hooper Avenue location in Toms River serves lunch Wednesday through Friday and dinner on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday evenings. The Ocean County Library café operates Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
More information about the initiative is available through the JBJ Soul Kitchen website.
