Freezing Temperatures Will Open Shelter For Homeless

TOMS RIVER – The pending cold temperatures coming this weekend will prompt the Riverwood Park recreation building to be open to homeless people.

The hours are as follows:

  • Thursday 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m.
  • Friday 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m.
  • Saturday 4 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. If snowing, the shelter will stay open through to the next night.
  • Sunday 4 p.m. to 8:30 a.m.
  • Monday 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m.

A shuttle bus will run to the site daily at 5 p.m., starting at Shore Vineyard Church, 1 So. Main Street, in South Toms River. For more information, call 386-315-0168 or visit HavenStreets.Org.

The current Code Blue law opens up shelters when the temperature reaches 32 degrees with precipitation, or 25 degrees without precipitation.
