EMS Delivers Baby On The Parkway

TOMS RIVER — Members of Silverton EMS received a special call for help over the weekend when a baby decided to make an early appearance…on the Garden State Parkway.

On Sept. 22, two members of Silverton EMS, EMTs Josh Kopp and Nick McGinley, responded to mile marker 82 southbound on the parkway after receiving a call about a woman in labor.

According to a post from Silverton EMS: “Upon their arrival EMT’s Josh Kopp and Nick McGinley quickly got to work where they assisted in the delivery, along with MONOC Paramedics, of a healthy baby girl at 03:25am.”

The mother and baby were then transported to Community Medical Center.

“Mom and Baby Girl (and Dad!) are all reportedly doing well,” stated Silverton EMS.

This incident follows on the heels of a similar one. On Sept. 13, Island Heights police officers helped deliver a baby girl.
