TOMS RIVER – The Township Council congratulated Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey on their 25th anniversary.

The group got their start as a Toms River-only group organized by Barbara and Jack Devlin out of St. Joseph’s Church, Councilwoman Laurie Huryk said. They had been inspired by care received by Barbara’s father, who lived elsewhere.

Ultimately, the group has grown to encompass “Central Jersey,” providing a variety of services, including companionship, shopping, transportation, yard clean up, youth volunteer programs, Alzheimer’s respite care, multicultural outreach, veterans care, pet therapy, and connection through music programs.
