Car Suddenly Catches Fire In Toms River Parking Lot

TOMS RIVER – Police are investigating the cause of a car fire that happened in the parking lot of a Walgreens.

The incident happened at 10 p.m. on March 28. Police responded to the Walgreens at 2353 Route 9. The engine compartment of a Honda Accord was ablaze. The fire was extinguished quickly by the Pleasant Plains Volunteer Fire Department.

The owner told police that he parked his car and went inside to shop. When he was done, he came out to find his car on fire.

Officers Michael Weg and Matthew Crosta are investigating. Police said there is no indication of any criminal activity.
