Car Crash Injures Three In Toms River

TOMS RIVER – A serious motor vehicle crash made a mess of the Friday morning commute in Toms River. As a result, three people were sent to area hospitals, one in serious condition.

Toms River Police Department Spokesperson Jillian Messina confirmed police units were dispatched to the intersection of Route 70 and Whitesville Road after 9:30 a.m. for a serious motor vehicle accident. 

Messina said 55-year-old Barbara Bane of Ocean Gate was westbound in the left turn only lane of Route 70, attempting to make a left turn at the intersection of Whitesville Road when she collided with a car driven by 21-year-old Katelynn Kline of Manchester.

Kline was eastbound in the right lane of Route 70 proceeding straight ahead.

Both drivers suffered serious injuries as well as a rear passenger in Bane’s car.  

All injured occupants were taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center In Neptune.

Bane was transported by medevac helicopter and is listed in critical condition.

The accident is being investigated by Traffic Safety Officer Terry Warren.
