TOMS RIVER – Authorities have confirmed that no injuries were reported after a two vehicle crash left a car engulfed in flames this afternoon right near a Garden State Parkway jughandle.

The crash occurred around 1:09 p.m. from Garden State Parkway northbound onto a jughandle heading towards Route 37 westbound.

According to Lt. Gene Bachonski from the Toms River Police Department, a 2019 Kia Sorento driven by 35-year-old Troy Bogin of Beachwood was legally slowing down and stopping in order to merge into traffic when he was rear-ended by a 2008 Audi A4 driven by 83-year-old Norma Vasquez. The crash then caused the Audi to catch fire, Lt. Bachonski said.

Luckily, no injuries were reported from the crash and both cars were towed from the scene.

Vasquez was issued a summons for Careless Driving.
