TOMS RIVER – A candidate for Toms River Township Council has stepped down from running in November.
Susan Payne Gato, who was running as a Democrat, will not be on the ballot. The race is for the Ward 2 council seat.
Toms River Democrat President Jeff Horn confirmed that a committee will vote on August 16 on her replacement. The frontrunner is Zachary Dougherty.
Horn said that if anyone else is interested, they should email JeffJHorn@gmail.com. The candidate must be a registered Democrat who lives in Ward 2.
