HARVEY CEDARS — Fear not, Harvey Cedars will not be seeing a tsunami anytime soon.

Harvey Cedars Police Department sent out a tsunami warning via Nixle at 1:28 p.m. on Monday, April 29. The department later followed this alert up stating the “tsunami warning” was just a test by the National Weather Service.

“According to @nws they were testing their system. We apologize for the scare and are working on a solution to prevent this from happening again,” stated a post by Chief Burnaford to the department’s Facebook.

Police sent out a Facebook announcement telling everyone to “disregard the previous Nixle message.”
