BEACH HAVEN – A crowd of beachgoers got a surprise show at a local beach over the weekend when a teen reeled in a sizeable sand tiger shark.

A video of the shark being pulled from deeper water has made the rounds on social media, courtesy of Doug Howard, member of the American Angler fishing club.

It was a 14-year old Pennsylvania teen who caught the shark, reeling him closer to shore surrounded by a crowd of nervous and excited spectators. The video shows the hook being removed while the shark thrashes in the shallow water.  The shark, appearing to be about six to eight feet, was then released safely back to the ocean.

Members of Beach Haven Beach Patrol were shown in the video keeping the scene secure and spectators at a safe distance.
