Southern Ocean County House Fire Under Investigation

  STAFFORD – Authorities are currently investigating a house fire that took three hours to extinguish due to heavy smoke and flames.

  Around 6:30 p.m. on April 20, the Stafford Township Fire Company was dispatched to the Ocean Acres section of Manahawkin for a report of a structure fire.

  Due to the initial alarm, incident Stafford Township EMS, Barnegat Fire Company, a FAST Team from Forked River Fire Company and an Ocean County Fire Coordinator were all dispatched to the scene.

  Stafford Township Fire Company said the home had a heavy fire condition on the rear deck that had extended into the house.

  As a result, fire crews made an aggressive interior attack and after three hours, they controlled and extinguished the fire. Stafford EMS stood by and provided rehab while members operated.

 Also assisting as the scene were Waretown Fire Company, Eagleswood Volunteer Fire Company, Lanoka Harbor Vol. Fire Co. #1, Stafford Township Police Department, Stafford Township Office of Fire Prevention, and Ocean County Sheriff Communications.

  At this time, the fire is under investigation by the Stafford Township Bureau of Fire Prevention and the Stafford Township Police Department.
