BARNEGAT — Authorities are investigating suspicious overnight activity after four individuals were seen attempting to enter unlocked vehicles in the Timbers and Settlers sections of the township early Wednesday morning.

According to the Barnegat Township Police Department, the suspects were observed between midnight and 2 a.m. trying to gain access to parked cars. Police are urging residents in the area to review their home surveillance footage for any suspicious activity during that timeframe.

A screenshot of one of the suspects has been released. Anyone who may have captured images or video that could assist the investigation is asked to contact Detective Armstrong by emailing footage to armstrong399@barnegatpolice.us.

Officials also reminded residents to lock their vehicles and remove valuables to help deter crimes of opportunity.

The police thanked the public for their continued vigilance and cooperation in maintaining community safety.
