STAFFORD – Stafford Police have arrested a man who they believe is responsible for robbing a local convenience store.
According to police, 38-year-old Nicholas L. Santiago of Barnegat was identified as the robber of OA Convenience on May 27. Santiago also was connected to a robbery in New Gretna, police said.
Around 12 a.m. on May 27, Santiago entered the OA Convenience, located at 1504 Route 72 West wearing all black clothing and a white face covering. He brandished a small knife at an employee and demanded that his bag be filled with cash and various merchandise, police said. Santiago then fled the store.
Authorities later identified the suspect as Santiago and he was taken into custody at his home on June 18, police said.
Santiago was charged with robbery, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and theft. He was taken to Burlington County Jail where he awaits extradition to Ocean County Jail.
