LACEY – A 95-year-old woman said that jewelry and items from her purse were stolen while she was sleeping.
The incident was reported in the morning of August 13 on Beach Boulevard.
Lacey police and the Ocean County Crime Scene Unit found evidence of a burglary. Over the next six days, detectives recovered some of the stolen items and attained an arrest warrant for the neighbor. A search of the neighbor’s home turned up pieces of stolen jewelry.
Joseph Hover, 33, of Lacey was arrested by Berkeley Township Police. He was charged with Burglary, Theft, and Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card. Berkeley Township Police also charged Hover with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia after empty wax folds, used to package heroin, and a hypodermic syringe were found in his possession while being arrested.
