LACEY – Police have identified the pilot who died when his plane crashed into the woods over the weekend, sparking a wildfire that burned hundreds of acres.
Lacey Township Police confirmed that 61-year-old Oscar Molina of Long Branch was the only occupant of the plane. He was at the controls when his plane went down near Robert J. Miller Airpark on September 2.
Police said the family has been formally notified and the department expressed their condolences to the Molina family.
The crash remains under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
