LACEY – If you hear a siren this afternoon, don’t be alarmed. Oyster Creek generating Station will be testing their emergency alert sirens today at 12 p.m., police announced.

Police Chief Michael C. DiBella stated that the sirens will sound for three minutes simultaneously. The emergency sirens are positioned within a 10-mile radius of the Oyster Creek.

“Residents should be aware that the intent of the emergency alert sirens is to advise people to immediately tune to the emergency broadcasting system for direction in an actual emergency. It is not considered an evacuation siren,” stated Chief DiBella.
