LACEY – When a fire breaks out, it helps to have a fireman, even an off-duty one, nearby.

Such was the case at Walmart Wednesday, when a small fire broke out in one of the aisle freezers. According to Lacey Township Police, an unnamed off-duty fireman doing some shopping extinguished the fire before authorities, including the Lanoka Harbor Fire Department, even arrived.

Officials temporarily closed the store while the Ocean County Health Department inspected the damage.

No word on what caused the fire.
