TOMS RIVER — A 77-year-old Little Egg Harbor Township man has admitted to possessing child sexual abuse material and faces a lengthy prison sentence, authorities said.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that Alfred Annibal entered a guilty plea on September 3 before Superior Court Judge David M. Fritch. Prosecutors will seek a seven-year state prison term at sentencing, along with lifetime parole supervision. Annibal will also be required to register as a Megan’s Law offender.

The case began after the New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Investigators traced the online activity to Annibal’s home in Little Egg Harbor.

On May 23, 2024, detectives from the Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Squad, Homeland Security Investigations and local police executed a search warrant at Annibal’s residence. Authorities said they initially found more than 1,000 files of child sexual abuse material on his computer and an external hard drive. A deeper review later uncovered more than 100,000 files.

Annibal was arrested and charged last year but was released days later under New Jersey’s bail reform guidelines. His sentencing date has not yet been scheduled.
