
STAFFORD – A 62-year-old Manahawkin man was arrested after he allegedly stole a cell phone and several credit cards from a shopper’s cart at Buy Rite Liquors on Route 72.
According to Stafford Township Police, officers were called to the store at about 3:45 p.m. on October 3 for a report of theft. The victim told officers his phone and credit cards had been taken while he was shopping.
Following an investigation, police identified the suspect as Michael R. Pawlowski of Jennings Road. Officers located Pawlowski at his home, where he was arrested without incident.
Pawlowski was charged with Theft of Moveable Property and five counts of Credit Card Theft. Police also discovered he had three active warrants from Stafford Township, Little Egg Harbor, and Atlantic County courts.
He was taken to the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing. Police said all stolen items were recovered and returned to the victim.
