Ocean County Man Arrested For Stealing Car From Dealership

  STAFFORD – A Barnegat man was arrested and charged for allegedly stealing a car from a dealership Tuesday morning, police said.

  According to Stafford police, a white 2023 Ford F-150 was stolen from the rear parking lot of Causeway Hyundai, 551 Route 72 East in Manahawkin. It was later found located at the Ocean County Mall and occupied by 29-year-old Kevin C. Downes of Barnegat.

  As a result, Downes was placed under arrest through the assistance of the Toms River Police Department.

  It was later discovered that Downes also fraudulently used a credit card belonging to the vehicle’s owner.

  He was charged with Motor Vehicle Theft, Burglary, Fraudulent Use of Credit Cards, and Receiving Stolen Property.

  Charges are merely accusations until proven in a court of law.
