Manhunt In Ocean County, Shooting Suspect At Large

  LITTLE EGG HARBOR – A local man is wanted by police for allegedly shooting a man at a marina.

  Donald Rutter, 51, of Tuckerton has been charged with Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. Charges are merely accusations until proven in a court of law.

  Rutter is the main suspect in a shooting that took place at around 7:30 p.m. on January 5 at Jarvis Marine on Radio Road.

  Upon arrival, police found Thomas Jarvis, 55, of Little Egg Harbor, with a gunshot wound in his midsection. He was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center and is currently in stable condition.

  Multiple police units – including a helicopter – searched for the suspect throughout the evening.

  “Rutter has not yet been apprehended and is currently a fugitive from justice. Anyone with information concerning Rutter’s whereabouts is urged to contact Detective Denis Mitchell of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-929-2027,” Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.

  Involved in the investigation has been the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit, Little Egg Harbor Township Police Department, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Regional SWAT Team, New Jersey State Police, New Jersey State Park Police, United States Marshals Service, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office, and Tuckerton Police Department.
