LITTLE EGG HARBOR – A 40-year-old resident shot himself after police were called to his home during a disturbance call.

Little Egg Harbor Township Police said they were called to the home on Friday, October 4 around 8 p.m. near Great Bay Boulevard.

When officers arrived on scene, they attempted to make contact with a subject who was still inside the residence. While officers were inside they heard one gun shot and maintained control of the area they had already secured.

Other officers set up a perimeter around the residence and evacuated neighbors.

It was later discovered that the resident of the home had died from a self inflicted gun shot wound.
