BEACH HAVEN – A Pennsylvania man has pleaded guilty to manufacturing child sexual abuse material and invasion of privacy after authorities said he secretly recorded a teenager and others at Jersey Shore rental homes.
David Lyons, 44, of Glenside, Pennsylvania, entered the plea on August 29 before Superior Court Judge Kimarie Rahill, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced. He faces six years in state prison on the child sexual abuse material charge and three years on the invasion of privacy charge, to be served concurrently. Sentencing is scheduled for November 14.
Police began investigating in July 2024 after a 15-year-old girl reported being filmed while showering at a Beach Haven rental. Detectives later found additional videos of a juvenile and an adult at a separate Beach Haven property in 2023, as well as recordings taken at Lyons’ Pennsylvania home.
Lyons was arrested and initially released under New Jersey’s bail reform laws. He also faces related charges in Pennsylvania, where those cases remain pending.
The investigation involved the Beach Haven Police Department, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Squad, and Abington Township Police in Pennsylvania. The case is being prosecuted by Ocean County Assistant Prosecutor Lynn Juan.
